The Italian Governement and institutions taking part
The institutions involved in the Project are:
- il Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the necessary task of supporting and maintaining relationships with the partner foreign countries;
- il Ministry of Health to qualify and coordinate the clinical-scientifical actions, as far as treatment and learning are concerned;
- il Ministry of Economics for the fundamental financial support;
- the Region or Regions hosting the sanitary health centers of the Italian network
The Italian Government regarded the Project as its own, from the point of view of working together for development, that is as a foreign policy tool, paying particular attention to Mediterranean and Middle-Eastern areas, which are unsteady from the political and geographical points of view. Towards them, Italy is scheduling and designing important aid and support initiatives and programmes.
As to resources and tools, the Governement did:
IME Foundation, open to the further partecipation of public and private institutions, have as main task to carry on the International Project, on the basis of the clinical-scientifical experience of Prof. Guido Lucarelli and Prof. Franco Mandelli.
The main hospitals being part of the IME network in Italy are:
