Last December 2006, shortly before Christmas, Save Children’s Life Country Officer for the Philippines, Monaliza Reyes, went to one of the most depressed areas of the country, to realize one of the many support programmes for poor children and their families.
It is about the region of Pangasinan, and more precisely Rosales, where a Breaking Barriers for Children satellite center (STAC - Stimulation and Therapeutic Activity Center) rises, an institution taking care for disabled children.
Save Children’s Life beneficiaries families were 25: every child received nutritious food like milk, vitamins, oatmeal and noodles.
Going on with her travel, Monaliza went to Cagayan Valley, where she met more families with beneficiaries disabled children and spent Christmas Day with them. The distribution of the gifts, containing assorted food, like fruits and sweets was particularly important and touching. Many amongst those children did not know the taste of an apple…
In Rizal, in the region of Cagayan, on 27th December, Monaliza Reyes met disabled children and their families, poor families and elderly people, supporting them with the gift of hope.
